Data shows increase in deadly teen accidents

On behalf of Law Offices of Elia J. Castranova posted in fatal motor vehicle accidentson Wednesday, February 29, 2012

If the second half of 2011 reveals similar numbers as the first half, then deadly car accidents involving teen drivers increased year-to-year, the first time that’s happened in several years. Safety advocates are disturbed by the apparent trend.

In 2010, a total of 408 teenage drivers died in crashes. In the first half of that year, deaths totaled 190. In the first half of 2011, fatal crashes involving 16 or 17-year-old drivers jumped to 211.
