When drivers are impaired to the point that they don’t realize they are driving in a coned-off construction zone, danger is clearly in the air. In one such instance last week, a motorist drove in a restricted construction area, striking and killing a worker. The 21-year-old victim happened to be the son of actor and motorcycle racing champion Bruce Penhall.
The pedestrian accident happened on the San Bernardino Freeway in Baldwin Park last week, according to Patch.com. The young man was operating a concrete saw in the construction area just before midnight. At that time, a 37-year-old motorist from Arcadia drove into the area and struck him. He was apparently thrown about 50 to 75 feet and was pronounced dead at the scene. His father came to identify his body.
