Hit-and-runs in Los Angeles are relatively common, but one veered out of control when the driver smashed into a home in Lafayette Square in Mid-City. The car accidentbegan when the allegedly drunk driver of a minivan hit a woman’s car on the 10 Freeway and then fled the scene. The woman followed the van off the Vermont Avenue exit. The two vehicles moved into a neighborhood where the van driver attempted to make a left turn, lost control, went up a curb and continued through a fence, finally coming to rest in the living room of a home.

Inside the house, the family was sleeping and a 4-year-old girl was nearly injured by the van that stopped short of her bedroom. There were no serious injuries. The driver was arrested and charged with drunk driving. Witnesses stated that a similar incident occurred a few months ago when a drunk driver hit some parked cars in the area.
